Dr. Snipes

Dr. Jonathan “Jon” Snipes is a dual board-certified psychiatrist with nearly two decades of experience in mental health care. He completed his undergraduate education at Clemson University before earning his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He remained at MUSC for his psychiatry residency, serving as Chief Resident during his final year, and subsequently became the inaugural graduate of the nation’s first fellowship in Interventional Psychiatry and Brain Stimulation.

Dr. Snipes has extensive experience treating patients across inpatient, outpatient, and interventional settings. He previously directed a brain stimulation service and provided clinical leadership for a 36-bed inpatient chemical-dependency unit, intensive outpatient and partial-hospitalization programs, and an outpatient medication-assisted treatment service. He is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine.

His professional interests include treatment-resistant depression, addiction medicine, ketamine therapy, and interventional psychiatric treatments such as electroconvulsive therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation. Dr. Snipes believes in an individualized, evidence-based approach that considers each patient’s symptoms, goals, treatment history, and overall well-being. He is committed to helping patients understand their options and participate meaningfully in decisions about their care.

Outside of his professional work, Dr. Snipes enjoys deep-sea fishing, beekeeping, and spending time with his family.
