Nic Valko

I’m Nic Valko, a Registered Associate in Marriage and Family Therapy who specializes in helping teens and adults navigate complex trauma, dissociative and mood disorders, neurodivergence, and relationship concerns. I earned my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Wesleyan University and have trained extensively in EMDR, Solution-Focused Narrative Therapy, and other evidence-based approaches.

My goal is to create a safe, genuine, and nonjudgmental space where you can process painful experiences, build practical coping skills, understand yourself more deeply, and move toward the life you want. Neurodivergent and autistic clients are always welcome and affirmed.

For deeper wounds, I often integrate EMDR therapy to help reprocess distressing memories, reduce emotional triggers, and restore a greater sense of balance and safety. With couples, I focus on strengthening communication, rebuilding trust, and repairing connection after betrayal and infidelity.

Outside of therapy, I’m probably doing something competitive or spending time with my two dogs, Castro and Evie. I’m a former professional pickleball player and a former Division I tennis player, so I understand the pressure of performance, competition, identity, and the challenge of finding balance in life. I bring that same curiosity, determination, and authenticity into my work with clients.

Therapy doesn’t have to be about becoming someone different. It can be about reconnecting with who you are, understanding what you’ve been through, and creating a future that feels more aligned with the person you want to become.
